It's been fun!

It's the last day of 2006. Yup, it's been a year already and before i know it, i'll be married and having kids around. It's been a fun and exciting year for me. Pretty much everything i've hoped for has happened and i'm glad for that. The best thing i ever did this year was to start blogging. It seriously has changed my life. The friends i've made are simply amazing. This blog's only about 8 months old yet i felt i've been around longer.

This entry is highlights the events that has happened this year. Enjoy!

January

On the eve of the New Year, Cinderella Mike got wasted few minutes before countdown, lost his shoe in the club and woke up in his undies and socks ! while Robin was not too happy with it.

Spent my Chinese New Year watching a strip show in Thailand with my sister.

Febuary - April

No recollection of what happened. All i remember was that i hit depression.

May

Since i wasn't anywhere near better, i went back Kuching for my holidays. That's when i officially started my blog on the last day of April. Don't know why i didn't start in May instead. First post that drew 10 comments and after that there were none.

Went kayaking with Kenny Sia. With too much to drink and no sleep, it was a miracle that kenny survived till the waterfront.

June

Joined Spirit of Melaka under the name Turtle Rocks which was organized by the Star and Digi.

July

The turtles rocked out the Spirit of Melaka.

I got to camho with 4 babes during the Big Blogger's meet in KLCC

August

Celebrated Shaz's birthday for god knows how many times. But it was one hell of celebration every time there was one.

Finally made it to Spirit of Penang but our teammate Jason Mumbles went looking for food instead.

September

Was busy with exams. That's when my blog started to turn rojak with guest bloggers writing from anything to everything. hehe. You have one that leaves traces of roxy, another calling me malas, one best buddy who filled in when no one was free, another that likes to blog about relationship and finally a paddle pop shaped woman.

October

Wrote an email to my faculty about the fees. A few days later, i got a reply from the dean.

Kellster's birthday which turned emo before cutting the cake and naughty things not safe to blog about. ;P

November

Was given a surprise birthday celebration with everyone hiding in a corner. Thank you all!!

December

After being away and kind of disconnected from other Kuching blogger, i decided to put together a small Kuching blogger's meet. That was definately one of the best meet i've ever attended.

It's rather refreshing typing out this entry as i reminiscent on what has transpired throughout this year. Of course all this is but a snippet of a long list of events. 2006 has been a great year for me. I hope the same for 2007. Happy New Year everyone!!!

Busy week ahead!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, after being broadbandless in Kuching, now i'm busy preparing my final report for my industrial training. All i can say is that i'm busy, busy, busy. What's more is that the task is proving to be a headache. One thing i'm thankful for is the manual which makes it more like a Q & A assignment. My weekly report's getting shorter cause of the routine and i got nothing else to describe. Maybe add a lil bit of spice here and there. I got to finish it within these few days. After that it's back to Kuching for a good one week as i look forward to the new year's party and not forgetting kolo mee... yummy... darn im hungry. Take care peeps!

Magsdirect.com

I've been an avid reader of certain magazines. For example, Digital Camera, KLue etc etc.. . Well, knowing how some magazines can't be found here in Malaysia, there's always an option of getting it from an online store and have it mailed to you. I'm not sure whether the Malaysian customs do check but if you have someone who is able to bring back from overseas, that'll prove to be a better option.

Magsdirect.com is one such online store that offers subscriptions to over 1300 magazines. I've checked out the website and found out that most of the titles are unheard of in Malaysia since we have such strict guidelines for allowing which books and magazines gets through. If you saw a title that caught your attention but you're not sure of the content, you can click on the magazine title and read what it's all about. Easy aye? The titles are arranged in categories which makes it easier to search. Also, they claimed to sell at the lowest price allowed by the publishers for general internet sales though i'm not sure how much of that is true. Nonetheless, this is a site worth checking out.

Merry Christmas to you!

Ding Dong Christmas balls in a bell!!!

Its finally Christmas eve, my favourite day of the year. Probably the only one i ever look forward to. It's just the whole ambience of the season that warms the heart. If you think i've always celebrated Christmas, you're wrong. I grew up in a non-Christian family hence the reason why i never celebrated when i was young, let alone have a Christmas tree. I did however end up watching Christmas shows/cartoons on Christmas mornings and going awwwww.

Electrifying Santa and his reindeers

Being a Christian in my later years in high school, i get to attend a few Christmas parties, which was probably the first time i 'celebrated'. I remember being so excited about it i actually took a few days to think of what to get for that RM5 exchange gift. The day came and needless to say, i had a blast! I got worried sick though when they started opening up the presents and looking for whoever bought it for them, asking around 'Did you get me this?'. Ahhh...those were the times.

Cookies!!

I'm not one that likes to party over at clubs on Christmas Eve. I would much rather have a quiet celebration over dinner and head over to a nice place for coffee or tea like Bing's. hehe. Nothing rowdy, just a simple one or a small gathering of friends.

Welcome to my house made of cookies!

This year however, proves to be a more meaningful Christmas. Why? I had my first Christmas tree that's why!!! The surprise came when my mum bought a Christmas tree home and asked me to set it up. Being a noob at it, i screwed a few branches and shed a number of leaves. I can't even explain how excited i was putting up the ornaments. Since my grandmother converted to Christianity, i was more than thankful to have such opportunities. Indeed this has been an surprising year for me but a great one nonetheless. The only thing i'm missing out is celebrating with them. No Christmas dinner no nothing! I feel like kicking myself for not being there for their first Christmas. But i'm hopeful for next year's.

From the gecko to all of you, wishing you a merry merry Christmas!!!

Kuching Blogger's Meet @ Bing's

Spelled !gnib

Last Saturday, a pack of bloggers terrorised the vicinity of Bing's Coffee house. Not only were the decibels enough to irk other patrons, we were making ourselves right at home at the corner of the shop readied with pillows big enough to whack and its awesome ambience. Before i came back from KL, i've already planned on meeting a few people but that only took a few small outings with them before i realized i already did what i set out to do. Nevermind that, i wanted to meet more people hence the decision to organize this kickass blogger's meet.

Standing far far behind/last row: Chun Chow, Robin

2nd row: Ben, Boon Kim, Allen

Seated/1st row: Joshua, Frankie, Me, Ann, Irene, Mike (i still don't understand why must censor), Unker

Not in picture: Georgette, Ducky

To some of the Kuching bloggers who were not invited, i do sincerely apologize as i may not know who you are and there was a problem with space constraints. A big thanks to Robin for helping me mass email to the others. I thoroughly enjoyed myself that day.

Like the usual bloggers' meet, we talked and talked and talked and camwhored. Everyone was exchanging flashes and made bings look like a huge disco ball. Here's a snapshot of what happened. Enjoy!

About an hour or so into the meet, Unker came with his 3 chicks. Not to mention, he came with souvenirs from his kayak trip: lemang and some fruits i've never seen before. Initially he wanted to bring in durians but i guess we were errr....apprehensive about it. Lest they kick us all out and we would have to end the meet. hehe

Unker couldn't decide whether it was more of a nipple or an earring.

Robin?

Well, let's just say he has better use for it. ;P

Blogsvertise

After finding out approximately how much 5Xmom actually made through blogging(which when converted to Malaysian Ringgit, is more than the average paycheck for a fresh grad.), i realize the potential it has to actually generate money for you through services like PayPerPost and most recently Blogsvertise.

Just like its counterpart, Blogsvertise needs you to have a blog to start off. Once that is out of the way, you'll need to register with Blogsvertise. An email is sent to you with an activation link. Click on the link provided and you will notice that they require you to write an entry for the approval of your blog.

With Blogsvertise, tasks are assigned to you by the administrator. You are required to include 3 links to the website url and the dateline is a week from the date the email was sent and must remain as a permanent post on your blog. That's pretty much it. Of course after that you get paid. Isn't that all we want?

Money Saving

Having to starve oneself towards the end of the month to save what little they have is no small matter. But it seems to be the norm for most students. It stems from the lack of self-discipline when spending. In every nooks and corners in a shopping mall lurks the temptation to spend. Probably more than we earn or in this case your parent's money.

Learning to save should be taught since young. By the time they hit college, they'll be spending every pennies they get a hold of. The easiest way to save is probably by putting your savings in saving accounts or even current accounts. That should ensure part of your wage stays in there if not spent. Even so, one should not largely depend on it as the interest gathered are barely enough to survive long term.

Then comes the credit cards. Most users find themselves in huge sums of debts and unable to pay it off. So limit your usage of credit card. Just because you don't see the cash flowing out of your wallet doesn't mean it's not happening.

Of course, there's always the issue with secured loans, home insurance and mortgages. Education, house, car loans are generally the monthly salary vampire that sucks your accounts dry. Paying it off is a hassle so unless you can afford to save up for the amount without taking a loan, by all means do it. It's better to save up for that which you wish even though it takes time but it'll all be worthwhile and you'll be enjoying every minute of it without having to worry bout paying it off.

The cost of living is always on the rise. The best way instead of hoping for a raise in salary is to adopt a habit of saving and be careful when spending.

Daylight Robbery

Today was just another perfect day. One exception.

Apparently 3 thieves worked hard under the scorching sun climbing over the fence in broad daylight and ran away with a gas cylinder. A bloody heavy gas cylinder! Perhaps that's the only thing worth stealing without having to get inside. They sure are a brave lot. I've even heard of those that actually walked in and pretended to be friends of the occupants.

Anyway, the maid was the first one to spot the guys. When she got over her shocked state and starting screaming hysterically shaking with fear, the fellas were long gone. Unfortunately i wasn't there so i'm not very sure of the details. However, i was also informed that they were carrying a knife. Thankfully, nothing happened and the only things missing was a gas cylinder. There goes our cooking!

Despite the fact that everyone went around blaming each other, i'm really really thankful that no one was hurt. I mean, when you're in that situation yourself, you probably can't think as fast. Hopefully this won't happen again. We're taking precationary steps to curb this though i'm not sure how. Perhaps you can learn something from this.

Update post

Life without broadband is a painful experience. Waiting for a page to download that usually takes fractions of a second now extends beyond my waiting capability. I wonder how much longer i can take this. LOL. Either way, i still got to find some way to compensate.

Pictureless has been a way of life on this blog if you've been here long enough. I hardly have the pics let alone wait for it to upload. Therefore do bear with me for a while. Cheers!

I heart Kuching

I'm back in Kuching! And i'm loving every single freaking moment i have here. The only complaint i have here is that i'm still living on 1515 dial up. hehe so connection's pretty shitty. The only thing i miss bout KL is my streamyx.

Surprisingly, Chloe arrived over at Kuching today for her debate. Met up with her and her teammates earlier on and took them on a sampan trip across the river. Up till now i still haven't hit the beach yet. :P

Kuching bloggers, if you're back, do leave me a message. Would love to meet up.Take care peeps.
