Where you are

In the spur of the moment or was it my morning fuzziness instead that prompted me to book a room up in genting. It's been quite a while since i was up on some highlands so i thought it'll be a good chance to get away from the caught up city life and do a lil personal reflection. Been wanting to do that for a while so i'm hoping it all gets well. Would love to be at the beach though but the even the nearest one is miles away so that's out the window.

Personally for me, i don't see anything wrong with going there all alone and i don't see why most people would always give me that weird look when you say you're going alone. Heck most of the places i go i'd travel alone.

The thought came to me yesterday when i was on my bed thinking why do i travel alone most of the time. For one, it's easier than trying to rally people to join you. Then if you ask the guys, they'll start asking if any girls would be going. If none, then they wouldn't even bother going. You ask the girls and they need to ask their friends. That's one of the reason why my trip to redang never materialise. Great friends i have huh.

I think more than that, it's cause i'm so much more comfortable being with myself. I always feel that when there's someone around, i'm not myself and it's kinda hard to deal with it for me cause i always tend to please others. So yeah, it always end up that way unless it's someone that i'm really really comfortable with.

Bah, what the heck am i saying now.

Train man

Finally got out of the house while under a self imposed lock-in for several days due to financial constraint. Yes, it's a sad way of saying i'm broke.

If you haven't known by now when i mention going out, there's 2 out of 5 chance that i'll be heading to KLCC. Not to mention how easy it is for me to get there and one of the stores where i'll definately drop by is Kinokuniya.

While i'm not an avid reader, i do like to browsing through books. I somehow stumbled upon an interesting book titled 'Train Man' or 'Densha Otoko' in Japanese. It was originally written in Japanese and the book i was holding was translated to English.

Nevermind that, cause after reading the first page, the next thing i knew, i was over at the third chapter. This isn't your run-of-the-mill typical book so don't expect the words to come together or if grammatical mistakes makes you cough out blood, then by all means, drop the book. There are plenty of words that even i find doesn't make sense.

The reason why it's that way is due to the fact that it's in a messageboard style. In other words, it's not a written story. Just imagine visiting a messageboard and copying the whole thread into a book and walla ... you have 'train man'! At first glance, i wasn't impressed but after going through various comments and getting used to it, it slowly became addictive.

Here's how wikipedia elaborated on the story:

In 2004, an anonymous user posted in a 2channel thread for single men to bemoan their woes. According to his account, he had been sitting next to a young woman on the train when a drunken man entered the car and began bothering the other passengers, most of whom were female. When the drunk began to badger a particular woman, the poster took the risk of telling the man to stop bothering the passengers. The two struggled for a short time while the other passengers used this distraction to summon the conductor, who took control of the situation.

Never having done such a thing in his life, the poster was amazed to find the woman thanking him deeply for saving her from harassment. The young woman requested his address, telling him that she wanted to express her appreciation for his act, before they parted ways. The poster, upon returning home, shared his experience with other posters in the thread and was eventually nicknamed "Densha Otoko" (Train_Man).

I found myself almost bursting out laughing at times cause some things reminded me of how ridiculously similar their experiences were. Like how guys would always analyse everything a girl they're interested in says. Or should i say 'over-analyse'. Everything they say or do would lead them to a conclusion of whether the girl is interested in them or not.

Some messages were funny and there were a lot of ASCII character drawings. Those reminded me of my IRC junkie days. Indeed, the book makes you feel like you're reading a real thread online.

I'm seriously thinking of getting that book once i can afford it but it's so depressing that books are so expensively priced nowadays. I believe i bought the most books this year compared to previous. Not sure if that's a good thing though.

If it really matters to you

If you're a concerned citizen of the country, here's a part that you can play. If you are against the use of ISA, then you can do your part by signing the petition here which among its objective is to free RPK, Teresa, Hindraf 5 and other detainees and to repeal the law.

Coincidence? I think not

Breaking news tonight has been the arrests of several personalities under the infamous draconian law, ISA. Even now petaling street seems to be flooded with updates on it. I'm expecting more to come in tomorrow.

So first it was RPK. Second victim, the journalist from Sin Chew. The most recent one was Theresa Kok. What i don't understand is why the journalist was arrested when she has not written anything that could be a threat to national security as she were merely reporting what Ahmad Ismail had said. If it were to warrant an arrest, then that bugger should be thrown in the brig in the first place instead of just a slap on the wrist.

I think the gahmen has lost its marbles. Frankly speaking, i am very concerned. Why? Cause all i am tired of reading about all this fiasco day in and day out. Now if it were a movie, i wouldn't mind sticking to it till the end but this involves my future. In fact, OUR future as malaysians.

God, we need a miracle! Who knows how many more are they going to arrest.

Sparkles for life

Diamonds are often said to be a woman's best friend. I'm not sure how true that is but what i do find to be true is that most women i know are particularly fond of diamonds. But when it comes to buying one, what's the smartest way to get one, be it Engagement Rings or Jewelry.

Blue Nile is the largest online retailer of certified diamonds and engagement rings. That said, they have a selection of 60,000 certified diamonds! With that much to choose from, i don't see why there shouldn't be a reason to check it out. If it proves too much for you to browse through, you can always search for one using their unique search application.

Price has always been a factor and since diamonds don't come cheap, you'd be happy to know that the diamonds they offer are 20 to 40% below competition. I can see the smiles beaming now. Oh and did i mention a free FedEx on every order?

On the airwaves

So we made our debut appearance on the radio airwaves today courtesy of Fly Fm's Campur Chart. What most people didn't know was that the interview was recorded on 22nd August. :D In what was our first time being in a radio station studio, it turned out to be a rather casual affair of sorts.

If you've been tuning in to the campur chart, you'd be familiar with dj basil but since i gave up on radios long time ago, i hadn't a clue who he was till we met him there. He's one of those guys that
you'd definately enjoy hanging out with.

After a brief introduction and a ciggie break for them, it's time to hit the studio. What i realized is that it's no different from a normal recording studio. Sound proof room, mics, macs, and what not. Once everything's set, we started the interview.

Tomas's failed attempt at camwhoring:

Albeit a bit nervous somehow seeing how this was our first time being on radio, we did all in one take and along the way we sort of got into it and it didn't feel all that intimidating. Once we got over the interview, we proceeded out for another ciggie break for the guys and few fellas joined us where we just hung out and joked around.

This is definately one of the highlights of the year for me personally. Never even thought i'd be able to step foot into a radio station let alone do an interview there. And by the way, we'll be performing for the campur chart goes live gig in october as well so look out for that one.

What are you waiting for?

I finally gotten my resume all typed out. However i'm still apprehensive about its presentation. It looked like i just poured everything out of the pot so i'd most probably do something about it tomorrow when i'm more refreshed.

Going through my certs from high school was a nostalgic experience. You look back and you realized so much time has passed and how things have changed and how you yourself have changed down through the years. Its a given thing since everything and everyone at some point would have to change.

However, i guess at this point in time, i'm kinda like stuck watching my life go by. I don't really know what i want and what i want to do with my life. My time stopped last year and hasn't really moved since then and everyone around me is going their own path and it makes me realize that i too need to walk my own path. Let's face it, no one's gonna live your life for you so it's really your own journey.

LOL. Updating my resume sure ended up being a melancholic one. Next thing on the list is to send it over to various companies and hopefully they'll take pity on me and employ me :D
